Police: Unspecific, Not Credible Threat Made Against Dubuque Schools

Dubuque Police say out of an abundance of caution, there was an increased police presence at several Dubuque schools this morning.

Police say they took the step following a veiled social media threat against an unspecified Dubuque school posted on Tuesday night.

The message was shared by numerous people in the community which resulted in calls from concerned parents and citizens to the Dubuque Police Department and Dubuque Community School District.

Authorities say so far there investigation shows the threat was not credible and that the post originated from the eastern side of the country. Police say they are thankful for the numerous reports received by community members which allowed them to launch an early investigation.

School officials advise if someone sees a threatening post or other concerning information, contact police immediately and don’t share the post with others as it can increase fear, speculation and misinformation.
