Missouri Man Sentenced For Fatal 2023 Truck Driving Incident In Clayton County

The Missouri man charged in a 2023 incident in Clayton County, in which two people fell off the tailgate of a truck he was driving, has been sentenced to 120 days in prison.

Tucker Baker, of St. Joseph, Missouri, was originally charged with Homicide by Vehicle – Reckless Driving and Serious Injury by Vehicle for the incident, which happened on Domino Road near Volga Campground.

Baker pleaded guilty to lesser charges: one count of Involuntary Manslaughter and one count of Reckless Driving.

The two men that were injured in the incident were 24-year-old William Gross and 21-year-old Brett Gross, both of St. Joseph, Missouri. They were sitting on the tailgate of the truck when it accelerated so rapidly they fell off.

Both were rushed to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. William Gross later died of his injuries.
