Just prior to his trial getting underway this week, a Dubuque man charged with attempted murder has opted to plead guilty to lesser charges.
33-year old Lorenzo Eggleston, was accused of stabbing 26-year old Cory Jones during a disturbance in the downtown area in May of 2023.
Yesterday Eggleston accepted a plea deal pleading guilty to charges of willful injury, participating in a riot and assault with a dangerous weapon. In exchange charges of attempted murder and two other charges were dropped.
A sentencing date is set for October 9th
