A southwest Wisconsin woman accused of poisoning her then husband has been sentenced to serve 3 years in state prison.
51-year old Amanda Chapin of Argyle received the sentencing on Friday in Layfayette County Circuit Court after recently pleading no contest to a reduced charge of first degree reckless endangering safety. Chapin was originally charge with first degree attempted homicide.
Chapin was accused of trying to kill veterinarian Gary Chapin by allegedly spiking his coffee with animal euthanasia drugs on three separate occasions in 2022. Following the third time, he fell into a four day coma. Blood work done showed the presence of barbiturates in his system and Amanda Chapin was charged.
