Dubuque Police Arrest Man For Downtown Shots Fired Incident

DMARCO SANTIAGODubuque Police have arrested a man they say fired a gun in the air during a large disturbance last month in the downtown area.  Police say Sunday morning they were able to apprehend 22-year old Dmarco Santiago after he attempted to run away from officers and jumped a fence. Officers found a 9 millimeter handgun while searching for him. He faces several charges including interference with official acts with a firearm and reckless use of a firearm for the shooting incident.

Santiago is accused of firing the gun into the air during the early morning hours of July 20th in the 14-hundred block of Central Avenue where a group of approximately 50 people had gathered.

Police say traffic camera footage helped them identify Santiago as the one who fired the gun.
