According to the Telegraph Herald, The Ginter family’s annual community Thanksgiving dinner that has provided free meals every year since the late Donna Ginter first started serving it in her home in 1961 will not take place this year. Donna Ginter died in 2013, but her children decided to keep the Thanksgiving tradition going in her honor until they couldn’t do it anymore. The kids say now is the time to close this chapter. The meal was a Dubuque Thanksgiving tradition serving more than 2,000 meals annually.
