In the Class 3A quarterfinals last night the #3 Wahlert Golden Eagles used a walk off home run by Julia Roth in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat #7 ranked Sumner Fredricksburg 9-8. Wahlert (30-10) advances to the state semi-finals and will play Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 and meet #2 (31-12) Williamsburg.
Earlier in the day in the 4A quarterfinals, 9th ranked Western Dubuque lost 7-2 to top ranked North Polk and will play a consolation game against Fort Dodge at 12:45 today.
