Rural Dyersville Home Destroyed By Fire

A rural Dyersville home was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. Around 12:45, firefighters from Dyersville, Farley, and New Vienna were called to the Richard and Betty Herbers residence at 13-406 Black Hills Rd for the report of a structure fire.

The Herbers evacuated safely and no human injuries were reported, the family pets were unable to escape the fire. Authorities say the home sustained approximately $300-thousand dollars in damage and is considered a total loss.

The Red Cross has responded to assist the family. The cause of the fire is unknown and the State Fire Marshall is investigating.
