A fire on Saturday night in Maquoketa destroyed a local business. Around 8:30, Maquoketa fire crews were called to Nugent Auto Sales and Salvage on South Clark Street. Fire crews had to stay there fighting the flames until 4:30 on Sunday morning, then had to return about two hours later for a flare up.
One firefighter had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion.
No damage estimate is available. The cause is still under investigation.
