A former Dubuque priest accused of sexually abusing boys in the 1980s has filed a motion asking for the judge to dismiss the charges against him.
In the motion, Leo Riley’s attorneys argue the statute of limitations had expired before the charges against Riley were filed.
Riley is charged with five counts of sexual abuse for allegedly molesting multiple altar boys while he served at Resurrection Parish in Dubuque from 1984-86. His next court hearing is set for this Monday in Dubuque County District Court.
