Dubuque County Sheriff has just released details on an accident from over the weekend that injured five people.
Authorities say the accident happened Sunday morning around 11:30 on Highway 20 near Farley.
According to the report, a vehicle driven by 75-year old Robert Heims of Dyersville attempted to cross the highway at First Avenue Northwest near Old Castle Road and was hit by another vehicle driven by 36-year old Andrew Budzine of Independence.Two passengers in Heims vehicle: 86-year old Robert Staner and 81-year old Bernadette Staner both of Dyersville were taken to Unity Point-Finley Hospital for treatment. Three children in the Budzine vehicle were taken to Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
Both drivers were reportedly un-injured. Heims was cited with failure to yield upon entering a through highway.
