The Dubuque Metro Area Solid Waste Agency reports a recent Household Hazardous Material Collections event was a big success.
The agency says 310 Dubuque County residents brought in just over 16 tons of material which was saved from ending up in the landfill during the event on June 15th. Of the over 32-thousand pounds, nearly 12-thousand pounds were electronic items, and nearly 11-thousand pounds was latex paint.
The hazardous materials will be processed for fuel blending or incineration. Latex paint, batteries, and electronics will be recycled and processed into new materials.
