Boating Not Recommended On Mississippi River At Dubuque

River Flooding

Due to the major flooding taking place on the Mississippi River, local official agencies are recommending no boat traffic locally thru the 4th of July Holiday.

Officials say with the large amount of debris such as large trees floating downstream and the extremely swifter than normal current, the river is a dangerous place to be under the present conditions.

Officials also note due to the high water, Lock and Dam 11 at Dubuque will likely be shut down sometime on Wednesday to all boat traffic.  Down river, Lock and Dam 12 at Bellevue is already closed.  Up river at Lock and Dam 10 at Guttenberg, the lock remains open.
