Billie Eilish shares videos for her tracks ‘Lunch’ and ‘Chihiro’

Billie Eilish has shared the new, self-directed music video for the fan-favorite track “Chihiro,” the latest song off her recently-released LP, Hit Me Hard and Soft.  The album is Eilish’s third, and the follow-up to 2021’s Happier Than Ever.

In the clip for Chihiro, Eilish escapes an empty building and sprints outside, where she gets in a hands-on tussle with another person in a field, as she runs away from (and alongside) her love interest, Nat Wolff. Eilish calls the video for Chihiro “one of [her] favorite videos [she’s] ever made & truly one of the greatest days of my life. nat love you so much thank you for being a part of this.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Eilish explained how Chihiro draws inspiration from the main character in Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘Spirited Away’ – “It’s kind of from her point of view, mixed with mine. The visuals in that movie are some of the best ever — all that Studio Ghibli sh*t is unbelievable. There’s all those visuals of the train in the water after the flood, and it literally looks like an ocean with a train track. I had just watched Spirited Away and Finneas had made that beat. I love that movie. I’ve seen it so many times.”

Since Hit Me Hard and Soft dropped last month, Eilish has also shared a music video for “Lunch,” an anthem exploring themes of queerness and personal identity. Eilish debuted “Lunch” during her surprise performance at Coachella, where she joined headliner Lana Del Rey onstage; in the self-directed visual, Eilish performs directly into a vintage camcorder wearing a ‘90s-inspired outfit: a red cap worn sideways, a yellow supreme jersey layered over a long-sleeve white tee, fuzzy blue wristbands, plaid shorts and Jordans.

Eilish will also embark on the Hit Me Soft and Hard: The Tour starting in September 2024; the North American leg of the tour runs through to the end of December 2024, and will continue in Australia starting February 2025 ahead of her European, UK, and Ireland arena dates from April until late July.
