8/18-Southern Style Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches

Southern Style Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches

2 pkg. King’s Hawaiian buns

1 tbsp. unsalted butter, cut into little pieces

1 tbsp. milk

12 eggs

Salt & pepper, to taste

12 slices American cheese

12 Sausage patties

12 hash brown patties (cooked)

2 tbsp. unsalted butter

1 ½ tbsp. maple syrup

Preheat oven to 325-degrees F.  Spray a 9 x 13” baking dish with cooking spray.  Whisk eggs, milk, butter pieces, salt and pepper; pour into the baking dish.  Bake 18-22 minutes, or until firmly set.  Cool, then cut into 12 squares.

Heat oven to 400-degrees.  Place a large piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet.  Add sausage patties and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they reach 160-degrees F.  Remove to a paper towel to absorb excess fat.

Turn oven to 375-degrees F.  Place bottoms of Hawaiian buns on a baking sheet or a 9 x 13” baking dish.  Place a cooked sausage on the bottom part of each bun.  Top with eggs, cooked hash brown, then a slice of cheese.  Place top on bun.  In a small bowl, melt 2 tbsp. butter in the microwave.  Stir in maple syrup.  Brush the tops of the rolls with the butter/syrup combo.  Cover the baking pan with foil.  Bake for 15-20 minutes or until buns are warm and cheese is melted.  Remove from oven and let rest 2 minutes before serving.
