Annual EEO Public File Report

 

            The purpose of this EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6) of the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule.  This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following station(s):  KDTH AM Dubuque, Iowa; KATF FM Dubuque, Iowa; KGRR FM Epworth, Iowa and WVRE FM Dickeyville, Wisconsin and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations and posted on their websites, if they have websites.

 

            The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning 8/1/13 to and including 7/31/14 (The “Applicable Period”).

 

            The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

 

  1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Station(s) comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period;

 

  1. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number;

 

  1. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;

For purposes of this Report, a vacancy was deemed “filled” not when the offer was extended but when the hiree accepted the job offer.  A person was deemed “interviewed” where he or she was interviewed in person, over the telephone or by e-mail.

Brief Description of Activity and Station Participation:

 

a)      April 3, 2014 – John Leicht put on a 40 minute presentation on Radio

Broadcasting to the 4th and 5th graders of Hoover Elementary during their

Career Fair.

 

b)     March 5, 2014 – Perry Mason presented a 60 minute class on Broad-

cast Radio to a class of 30 at Loras College in Dubuque.  Subjects covered/

included programming, sales, news and sports reporting as well as opportun-

ities within the Broadcast industry.

 

c)      March 26, 2014 – Josh Crowell worked a Job Opportunities Class at

the Belmont Wisconsin Junior High School.  The 45 minute presentation cov-

ered programming, sales, news and sports reporting as well as job opportun-

Brief Description of Activity and Station Participation:

The Radio Dubuque

stations continued an Internship program with the area colleges specifically

for students wanting to pursue a career in broadcasting or marketing.  The

program is ongoing and can accommodate up to two students at a time.  The

program is designed around the schedule of those students interested and can

go up to 300 hours of hands on experience over several months.  Students are

exposed to sales, marketing, promotions, on air announcing, news and sports

announcing. Programming, music selection, copy writing and engineering.

Brief Description of Activity and Station Participation:

 

The Radio Dubuque stations have been designated as an Explorer Post for the

area Boy Scouts of America Council.  Each Spring, students from all of the

area high schools are given a career interest survey through their schools

guidance counselors.  One of the categories in the survey is for Marketing and

Promotions, Radio Broadcasting and Radio Journalism.  The staff at Radio

Dubuque has developed a 6 week course for those students interested in

attending.  Each class is held at the station weekly and offers hands on ex-

posure to Sales, Marketing, Promotions, On Air Broadcasting, News and

Sports coverage.  The program is designed for students 14-18 years of age and

Established a training program to enable station personnel to acquire skills

that would qualify them for higher level positions.  Station sponsored a 6

Week professional sales training course through Fairchild Leadership Train-

ing to equip sales staff with up to date sales and marketing knowledge to help

the staff grow in their current career.  This training course also gave the sales

Staff the opportunity to expand their horizons as well as their overall knowl-

edge of a career in broadcast sales
